Brownfields in the Hudson Valley
The number of brownfields in the Hudson Valley is difficult to estimate, mainly because many are privately owned and the stigma attached to the classification has led property owners to shy away from labeling their site as a "brownfield."

Brownfields represent an untapped resource that could play a major role in strengthening our villages and cities, while helping to stem the tide of sprawl and overdevelopment of open space and rural areas.

With new state programs in place, brownfield redevelopment is taking on a more positive light. Many groups are beginning to look at redevelopment opportunities in the Hudson Valley.
