Apply to New York State's Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP)
The Brownfield Cleanup Program applicant will work with the DEC to apply for money to clean up the site. This state program helps communities/developers/property owners finance cleanup, thus preparing the site for redevelopment.

Tips for a Successful Application
bullet Hold a Pre-Application Meeting with the DEC to discuss the project.
bullet Be sure you can demonstrate local buy-in and partnerships regarding the goals of the cleanup.
bullet Include letters of support from key people in the community.
bullet Alert and involve your local officials. Get them involved from the beginning.
