Sunset Reading at Romantic Riverfront Park

(RED HOOK ) - A group of nationally acclaimed writers from our region will read from their own works around a roaring bonfire with a backdrop of stunning sunset views of the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains. The free public event will be Saturday, Sept. 24, from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at Scenic Hudson's Poets' Walk Romantic Landscape Park, on River Road in the Town of Red Hook, Dutchess County. The public should plan to arrive 15 minutes early. Sponsored by Scenic Hudson, Oblong Books and Monkfish Book Publishing and organized by volunteers, the reading will feature celebrated works of fiction, nonfiction and poetry. The event will take place at the Overlook Pavilion, among the rolling fields of Poets' Walk Romantic Landscape Park. Refreshments will be served. The park consists of 120 acres nestled in the region's famous National Historic Landmark District. The breathtaking landscape has inspired artists and authors such as Washington Irving, author of Rip Van Winkle. For more information and to reserve your spot, please contact Andy Bicking at 845 473 4440, ext. 232, or via e-mail abicking@scenichudson.org, or visit www.scenichudson.org.

Scenic Hudson works to protect and restore the Hudson River and its majestic landscape as an irreplaceable national treasure and a vital resource for residents and visitors. A crusader for the valley since 1963, we are credited with saving fabled Storm King Mountain from a destructive industrial project and launching the modern grass-roots environmental movement. Today with more than 10,000 ardent supporters, we are the largest environmental group focused on the Hudson River Valley. Our team of experts combines land acquisition, support for agriculture, citizen-based advocacy and sophisticated planning tools to create environmentally healthy communities, champion smart economic growth, open up riverfronts to the public and preserve the valley's inspiring beauty and natural resources. www.scenichudson.org
