Scenic Hudson's West Point Foundry
Part of History Celebration
(COLD SPRING) - On Saturday, Oct. 1, and Sunday, Oct. 2, Scenic Hudson, in conjunction with Putnam County History Days, will open the doors to history at its West Point Foundry Preserve. Tours of the foundry will be given by Elizabeth Norris, one of the expert industrial archaeologists working on Scenic Hudson's West Point Foundry Preserve with Michigan Technological University. Saturday's tour of the foundry ruins will begin at 10 a.m. and will showcase the unique interplay of politics, geology and geography responsible for the foundry's prominent role during the Civil War. Sunday's program will begin at 2 p.m and will include activities for kids in addition to the tour.
