Festivities Slated for 7th Annual Burger Hill Buggy Day

( RHINEBECK) - The Seventh Annual Burger Hill Buggy Day celebration will take place on Saturday, Oct. 15, starting at 2:30 p.m. at Burger Hill Park on Route 9G, just south of Violet Hill Road in Rhinebeck. The public is invited to attend the festivities and enjoy an afternoon of fun, friendship and beautiful fall views. Burger Hill has been cited as one of the 10 best places for seeing fall foliage, and people come from the area and from out of state to see the view. Volunteer Neil Boehm will provide free rides to the top of the hill in wagons pulled by his antique tractors. The rides and guided discussions of the views from the top of the hill will continue until 4:30 p.m. The park was established seven years ago by the Burger Hill Committee under the sponsorship of the Winnakee Land Trust, in cooperation with Scenic Hudson, which owns the land. The park is maintained year round by the Winnakee Land Trust with the help of an active corps of volunteers and by donations. Refreshments will be available. Admission to the buggy rides is free. Rain date for the Burger Buggy Day is Sunday, Oct. 16. For further information, contact Drayton Grant, (845) 876-6344, or Joe Kiernan, (845) 473-4440, ext. 265, or visit Scenic Hudson's Web site at www.ScenicHudson.org/events.

Founded in 1989 on the conviction that the protection of land in our own community is something over which we can and must have direct control, the Winnakee Land Trust was formed to work with the property owners and residents in the villages and townships of Hyde Park, Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Tivoli, Milan and Clinton. The mission of the Winnakee Land Trust is to protect and preserve the natural, agricultural, recreational, architectural, cultural, scenic, historic, and open space resources of northern Dutchess County, including farmlands, viewsheds, wetlands, wildlife habitats, and undisturbed natural areas. www.winnakeeland.org.

Scenic Hudson works to protect and restore the Hudson River and its majestic landscape as an irreplaceable national treasure and a vital resource for residents and visitors. A crusader for the valley since 1963, we are credited with saving fabled Storm King Mountain from a destructive industrial project and launching the modern grass-roots environmental movement. Today with more than 10,000 ardent supporters, we are the largest environmental group focused on the Hudson River Valley. Our team of experts combines land acquisition, support for agriculture, citizen-based advocacy and sophisticated planning tools to create environmentally healthy communities, champion smart economic growth, open up riverfronts to the public and preserve the valley's inspiring beauty and natural resources. www.scenichudson.org
