"Signs of Spring" Guided Walk at Scenic Hudson's Black Creek Forest Preserve

(ESOPUS) - Families and other friends of nature are invited to join Scenic Hudson staff on Saturday, March 18, at 1:30 p.m. for a free guided nature walk at Black Creek Forest Preserve in Esopus. The theme of the two-hour outing will be looking for signs of spring. The 130-acre nature preserve features a dramatic suspension bridge that spans the Black Creek. The preserve is often used as an outdoor classroom when Scenic Hudson teaches school groups about ecology and environmental ethics. Well-maintained trails lead to the Hudson River.

Participants should dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring water and a snack. The walk will start and end at the Black Creek Forest Preserve parking area.

For more information and to reserve your spot, please contact Susan Hereth at (845) 473-4440, ext. 220, or via e-mail shereth@scenichudson.org. For more information on two other Scenic Hudson parks in Esopus, visit ScenicHudson.org/parks/index.html.

Directions to Scenic Hudson's Black Creek Forest Preserve: Crossing Mid-Hudson Bridge from east to west, take Route 9W north for 7.6 miles. Right on Winding Brook Acres Road. Immediate left for parking area.

Scenic Hudson works to protect and restore the Hudson River and its majestic landscape as an irreplaceable national treasure and a vital resource for residents and visitors. A crusader for the valley since 1963, we are credited with saving fabled Storm King Mountain from a destructive industrial project and launching the modern grass-roots environmental movement. Today with more than 10,000 ardent supporters, we are the largest environmental group focused on the Hudson River Valley. Our team of experts combines land acquisition, support for agriculture, citizen-based advocacy and sophisticated planning tools to create environmentally healthy communities, champion smart economic growth, open up riverfronts to the public and preserve the valley's inspiring beauty and natural resources. www.scenichudson.org
