"Hudson River Project" event comes to Irvington's waterfront June 15

Ned Sullivan speaks at panel discussion on revitalizing waterfronts

(IRVINGTON, New York) - The Garrison Institute's Hudson River Project series continues this Thursday, June 15 at 6:30pm at the Senior Center in the Scenic Hudson Park at Bridge Street, Irvington, NY.

Scenic Hudson's Ned Sullivan will join Carol Ash of the Palisades Interstate Parks Commission, Rev. Charles Colwell of St. Barnabas Church and the Center for Jewish-Christian-Muslim Understanding, and the musical group the Wickers Creek Band for "The River and Our Quality of Life: Revitalizing Waterfronts,"

The event, which is being held in the Hudson Riverfront park that Scenic Hudson saved from development, is part of the Garrison Institute's Hudson River Project, a free monthly series of interactive, interfaith, public conversations about Hudson River ecosystem and the sacred. The project seeks to broaden the base of environmental discussion and advocacy by reaching out to members of diverse faith-based groups and people of all beliefs and backgrounds for whom protecting the River is a personal value.

For information on the Hudson River Project see www.garrisoninstitute.org, call 845-424-4800 or e-mail Rev. Patti Ackerman. For directions to the Senior Center, click HERE.

Scenic Hudson works to protect and restore the Hudson River and its majestic landscape as an irreplaceable national treasure and a vital resource for residents and visitors. A crusader for the valley since 1963, we are credited with saving fabled Storm King Mountain from a destructive industrial project and launching the modern grass-roots environmental movement. Today with more than 10,000 ardent supporters, we are the largest environmental group focused on the Hudson River Valley. Our team of experts combines land acquisition, support for agriculture, citizen-based advocacy and sophisticated planning tools to create environmentally healthy communities, champion smart economic growth, open up riverfronts to the public and preserve the valley's inspiring beauty and natural resources. www.scenichudson.org
