The Hudson Valley Preservation Coalition (HVPC) is waging a campaign opposing the construction of the St. Lawrence Cement (SLC) plant in the City of Hudson and Town of Greenport in Columbia County, N.Y. We are collaborating with Friends of Hudson and The Olana Partnership in our opposition.
In 2001, HVPC was granted party status in the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation review of the plant proposal. We have retained legal and technical experts on the issues surrounding the plant, including air quality, scenic impacts, historic resources, regional economics, fish habitat, noise, traffic and blasting.
The coalition publishes a newsletter to keep our members and supporters apprised of the ongoing developments in the fight to stop the plant. To receive your copy via e-mail, please send an e-mail to hvpc@scenichudson.org or call (845) 473-4440, ext. 272.
